Not at all what I thought this book was going to be about, but it was so good and I want more from this universe。

It’s ok。 Not his best work, but ok。 The answer to the mystery is pretty much foreshadowed throughout the book, and it doesn’t come as any real surprise。 I found it quite disjointed - there’s a sentence at the end of a chapter which makes us aware of something that doesn’t actually happen for about half the book。 I didn’t find the ending particularly satisfying, but hey, even a 3star Harlan Coben book is better than a 5 star from other authors。

Quick read。 Ending was meh…

This is a thriller about a man named Wilde who was found in the woods as a child and has no memory of any parent。 When his late friend’s son asks him to help find a missing classmate, no one could imagine the secrets that would finally be revealed。 My only disappointment was not finding out about Wilde’s past。 Since this is Wilde #1, maybe I’ll find out in Wilde#2。

I picked this book up to read while on vacation。 The title is a bit off。 It's more like a man from the woods, or an amateur PI from the woods。。。etc。I found the plot twists a bit off, the author sends it's readers in various directions and in some instances, no direction at all。 The story line just abruptly stops。 I haven't read anything else from this author so will give another of his books a chance。 I picked this book up to read while on vacation。 The title is a bit off。 It's more like a man from the woods, or an amateur PI from the woods。。。etc。I found the plot twists a bit off, the author sends it's readers in various directions and in some instances, no direction at all。 The story line just abruptly stops。 I haven't read anything else from this author so will give another of his books a chance。 。。。more

One third through- not loving this。 Characters a bit weird - storyline a bit juvenile。 My first read by this Author soo, it best improve quickly or it will be canned, unfinished。

This was very disappointing to me。 I wanted to know about Wilde, didn't care that much about the rest。 And it was never addressed。 Can't recommend it。 This was very disappointing to me。 I wanted to know about Wilde, didn't care that much about the rest。 And it was never addressed。 Can't recommend it。 。。。more

I debated between three and four stars, but this kept me reading late into the night。 The book seems to be a collection of several mysteries occurring at the same time with several twists and turns。 Hester Crimstein is the lawyer, 70 years old, and full of spit and fire。 Wilde is the man who was discovered thirty years ago living alone as a young boy in the woods。 Together they are searching for two missing teenagers who may have been kidnapped。 The novel also touches on child abuse, school bull I debated between three and four stars, but this kept me reading late into the night。 The book seems to be a collection of several mysteries occurring at the same time with several twists and turns。 Hester Crimstein is the lawyer, 70 years old, and full of spit and fire。 Wilde is the man who was discovered thirty years ago living alone as a young boy in the woods。 Together they are searching for two missing teenagers who may have been kidnapped。 The novel also touches on child abuse, school bullying, and a possible coverup of a murder。 I learned about the Ghost Army in WWII which we witness in politics today。 I thought all the characters were well developed。 The ending was unexpected and I had hoped to discover more about Wilde's abandonment。 The book was a nice change of pace from my past reading selections。 。。。more

The beginning seemed terribly blah but the last 10-15% really bumped up what would have been a 3 star to a 4 star。 I usually fly through Coben’s novels but this one took me a while to get into and ultimately finish。 I will say that Coben keeps some things realistic such as justice not fully being served and how far people are willing to go to protect other people and themselves。 The main character, Wilde, is introduced as a man that was found in the woods as a boy, with no history of who he is, The beginning seemed terribly blah but the last 10-15% really bumped up what would have been a 3 star to a 4 star。 I usually fly through Coben’s novels but this one took me a while to get into and ultimately finish。 I will say that Coben keeps some things realistic such as justice not fully being served and how far people are willing to go to protect other people and themselves。 The main character, Wilde, is introduced as a man that was found in the woods as a boy, with no history of who he is, how long he’s been in the woods, or where he came from。 No one seems to have been looking for him。 He helps a young girl named Naomi because he relates to her with not feeling like she belongs。 After the most popular boy, Crash, and Naomi go missing, Wilde ends up looking for them both。 In what is poised as runaways in an unlikely relationship between the popular boy and outcast girl, Wilde is tasked with finding them both。 Things start to get tangled though when it seems that Crash was kidnapped and didn’t run away。 Wilde almost gets sidetracked due to his connection with Naomi, but many things aren’t added up from many sources。 The past seems to haunt everyone in this novel。 A few surprises were thrown in at the end that left me in an array of different feelings。 The end of this has me looking forward to learning more about Wilde in future novels。 。。。more

I watched "The Stranger" on Netflix based on Harlan's book。 I figured that if I loved that show with all it's twists and turns then I would probably love his books。 I helped my dad pick this book out for my mom for Christmas and I was pretty excited cuz it meant at some point I'd get to read it and I wouldn't have to pay for it。 Needless to say, my Kindle will have some of his other books on it because this was amazing。 All the twists, turns and surprises were amazing。 It was very easy for me to I watched "The Stranger" on Netflix based on Harlan's book。 I figured that if I loved that show with all it's twists and turns then I would probably love his books。 I helped my dad pick this book out for my mom for Christmas and I was pretty excited cuz it meant at some point I'd get to read it and I wouldn't have to pay for it。 Needless to say, my Kindle will have some of his other books on it because this was amazing。 All the twists, turns and surprises were amazing。 It was very easy for me to get lost in this book。 The perfect distraction。 。。。more

I love Harlan Coben and while I did enjoy this book it didn’t wow me as much as his others。 It’s a good fast-paced read and there was a little twist in there I didn’t see coming。 I am left more intrigued to find out more about Wilde and how he ended up in the woods but that’s about it。 Doesn’t put me off HC and will still read more from him as he is a masterful thriller writer。 It was just ok for me。

4。8 stars out of 5 rounded up to 5。Now, this is really not my sort of book, but I'm trying to expand the genres that I read and this one was in one of the Richard and Judy Book Club selections。 I have to say that I couldn't put it down! I read this through in 3 sittings, which is the quickest I've read a book in years! The writing is just superb, the characters expertly crafted and engaging and the plot romps along at a fair old pace without running away from you。 My only slight disappointment w 4。8 stars out of 5 rounded up to 5。Now, this is really not my sort of book, but I'm trying to expand the genres that I read and this one was in one of the Richard and Judy Book Club selections。 I have to say that I couldn't put it down! I prefer the humour in the humour in the Myron Bolitar books。 Story featuring Wilde who was found as a young boy living 'wild' in the woods。 He helps looking for missing people。 Someone is hoping to be elected to an important position but there are supposedly rapes showing he is not a suitable candidate。 Clever story。 I prefer the humour in the humour in the Myron Bolitar books。 Story featuring Wilde who was found as a young boy living 'wild' in the woods。 He helps looking for missing people。 Someone is hoping to be elected to an important position but there are supposedly rapes showing he is not a suitable candidate。 Clever story。 。。。more

Some good twists in the story, some things were easily figured out。 Most of the characters weren't very likable - the whole Maynard family, Eggers and Strauss。 Naomi is such a sad character and I found it hard to believe a child could be treated like that at school and nothing would happen。 I wasn't happy with the end。 Some good twists in the story, some things were easily figured out。 Most of the characters weren't very likable - the whole Maynard family, Eggers and Strauss。 Naomi is such a sad character and I found it hard to believe a child could be treated like that at school and nothing would happen。 I wasn't happy with the end。 。。。more

Somehow, not as compelling as his previous work, and the teasing connection to his unconcluded YA Mickey Bolitar series was frustrating。

I quite enjoyed this book by one of my favourite authors。 Harlan Coben just does NOT disappoint and the pages seemed to fly by。 I liked how there were little subtle nods to his other characters such as Myron Bolitar and Win。 I've come to the conclusion that this author really likes the word 'apropos' as it seems to turn up in a lot of his books these days。Enjoyed learning more about Hester Crimstein。 I look forward to more of Harlan Coben's works。 Definitely still one of my favourite authors for I quite enjoyed this book by one of my favourite authors。 Harlan Coben just does NOT disappoint and the pages seemed to fly by。 I liked how there were little subtle nods to his other characters such as Myron Bolitar and Win。 I've come to the conclusion that this author really likes the word 'apropos' as it seems to turn up in a lot of his books these days。Enjoyed learning more about Hester Crimstein。 I look forward to more of Harlan Coben's works。 Definitely still one of my favourite authors for the twist - although I was slightly disappointed that this one was so obvious (no spoilers)。 。。。more

I quite liked this。 It was a little different。 Full of twists and turns。 Lots going on, but coming together eventually at the end。 I have read lots of Harlan Coben books, but this is not one of his best。

My first Harlan Coben ! I knew the writer is like super famous and I watched The Stranger on Netflix( didn't finish thought)First, this is totally not what i thought。 It's not really much about woods, it's more rich people and lawyers and teenagers instead。Second, am I the only one think this Wilde is too much like Jack Reacher but raised-in-woods version? And after all i don't really get the point of the book, and if you notice, Matthew was a big part at the beginning and then he just faded out My first Harlan Coben !
